May starts with a bang

May starts with a bang on the racecourse with exciting prospect TINAAR taking the £50,000 StanJames.com Handicap at Newmarket on 1,000 Guineas day ridden by Frankie Dettori.  This Giant’s Causeway filly will retire to Aislabie Stud eventually as she is out of a winning half-sister to dual Gr.1 winner One Cool Cat .  Tinaar was then aimed at a Listed race in which she started favourite but was ridden differently and only finished third.  Though this gave her minor ‘black type’ we were disappointed.  It was a good month with plenty of winners.

Looking ahead, June has no real dedicated Flat sale, though I will possibly be attending the Doncaster Spring Sale (25th & 26th June) which is primarily a National Hunt sale but does have a few Flat horses-in-training it in normally.

Aislabie Stud only had the one final foal but had another 13 mares confirmed in foal with a few more to be scanned though the covering season has very much started to wind down.  A client of mine decided that he needed to move his UK stock to Aislabie, so we took charge of 6 more permanent boarding mares including 5 foals at foot and 9 yearlings.
