Ripon champion success continues

I’ve forged quite a good association with the Listed Ripon Champion Two-year-old Trophy over the years. Sir Xaar won the race in 2005 while Cool Question, the dam of Group 1 winner Krypton Factor, beat the colts in 2002. And now there’s a new name on the list – this year’s winner Supplicant, who was knocked down to me for 65,000gns at the Tattersalls October Sale.

Supplicant has been admirably consistent all year for Richard Fahey. After breaking his maiden back in May at Beverley, he ran Extortionist close when second in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot. He came into the Two-year-old Trophy off the back of another win at Ripon. If he’s anything like his brother Penitent, he should continue to improve.
