Breeders’ Cup second for gallant Daahyeh

Highly consistent, tough and honest best describes Bated Breath two-year-old filly Daahyeh, who headed out to Santa Anita for the Championship races at the Breeders’ Cup to take on the best of America on their home soil.

She ran in the Gr.1 Juvenile Fillies Turf over a mile – a distance which she had not encountered before. In a rough race she ran a blinder to finish a gallant second. She has danced every dance and never run a bad race, earning over £330,000 and giving her owner, Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad al Khalifa, immense pleasure. She will be aimed at the English Classic 1,000 Guineas Stakes at Newmarket in the spring and will hopefully break her Group 1 duck.

Skillfully trained by Roger Varian, this £75,00 yearling purchase won the Group 2 Rockfell Stakes at Newmarket, having previously annexed the Gr.3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot, as well as being second in the Gr.1 Moyglare Stakes at the Curragh and Gr. 2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket’s July meeting.

Eventually she will be retired to Fawzi Nass’s Aislabie Stud as a very attractive broodmare prospect.
