Deserved Listed win for Queen Daenerys

Frankel filly Queen Daenerys led from the front to take the Listed Prix Joubert at ParisLongchamp in France for owner HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The Roger Varian trained three year old deserved this victory having run some fine races in defeat.

The same afternoon, two year old Line of Departure also won for Shaikh Nasser (in partnership with Fawzi Nass) when taking the valuable Weatherbys Racing Bank £200,000 2yo Stakes at Doncaster. This was the Mehmas colt’s third win in a row, who has done nothing but progress with each run for Roger Varian.

Spurred on by the two big wins during the afternoon, I bought, with Fawzi Nass for Bahraini interests, the most beautiful Dubawi yearling filly out of Starlet’s Sister for €2,500,000 at the Arqana September Yearling Sale. She is a half-sister to two Group 1 winners – Prix du Jockey Club winner (and Arc de Triomphe hopeful) Sottsass and to 8-time Grade 1 winner SisterCharlie. She will be trained by Roger Varian in Newmarket.

Two year old Naamoos won in stunning style on only his second start when cruising to victory at Beverley by a barely credible 17 lengths. This son of up and coming sire Wootton Bassett is trained by Mark Johnston and looks to have a bright future as a 3 year old.
