Salute the Soldier won Round 2 of the Al Maktoum Challenge, Group 2, at Meydan over 9 1/2 furlongs for HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s Victorious Racing operation, trained by Fawzi Nass. Close to a furious pace from the off, he accelerated away from the field coming in to the final straight and maintained his advantage and win his first Group 2 race.
Winner of the Group 3 Burj Nahaar last year, he had been favourite for the Group 2 Godolphin Mile on World Cup night before the meeting was cancelled. Connections are possibly looking at the Dubai World Cup as his next target.
Bought through myself at Tattersalls Autumn Horses-in-training sale in 2019 for 380,000 Guineas. He has now earned back the cost of his purchase and given much pleasure. I’m hoping there is lots more good days to come.
