Review of the 2022/23 Middle East Season

As the Dubai World Cup Night approaches, we can reflect on what has been another highly successful winter for all at OSL Bloodstock, with strong results recorded in Bahrain, Dubai and Saudi Arabia. A few notable highlights were:

Qaader, purchased privately by OSL in 2022, who won two races in Riyadh this season including the International Handicap at the Saudi Cup Carnival collecting over £360,000 in prize money in the process. Qaader has been a huge success since moving to the Middle East and he’s been expertly handled by his trainer Fawzi Nass.

Go Soldier Go, purchased by OSL at the Goffs Dubai Breeze up Sale, became the first black type winner from that sale when taking the Listed Al Bastakiya Stakes on Super Saturday in Meydan. It was his second Meydan Success of the campaign and puts him firmly on course for the UAE Derby on Dubai World Cup night and goes there with a live chance.

Salute The Soldier, who at the age of 8 has had another top-class season, winning twice at Meydan including landing his second Group 1 when becoming the first dual winner of the Al Maktoum Challenge Round 3. It was a fantastic training performance from Fawzi to keep him at the very top level since being purchased by OSL in 2019 and he shows no signs of slowing down any time soon!

There were also some fantastic results in Bahrain, with Dark Lion, Deep Intrigue and Classical Wave all winning races throughout the season, along with Tawareeq who by coming third in The Kings Cup behind two Godolphin international raiders confirmed his place as the best Bahrain Based horse over twelve furlongs.

All in all, another fantastic winter and it makes us all hugely excited for the upcoming 2023 UK Flat Season. Long may the success continue!
