It’s been another strong winter in the Middle East, yielding many winners including a Bahrain series race, strong efforts at the major racing festivals in Saudi Arabia and Meydan, as well as strong results in Pakistan & India for Arthur Dobell. Oliver St Lawrence also brokered the stallion deals on 3 European stallions in Bradsell, Eldar Eldarov & Sakheer.
Some of the highlights of the Bahrain season were Nationwide, who won the Bahrain Series Al Fateh Cup, picking up $60,000 prize money. Juantorena has been in exceptional form in Bahrain winning four races, as well as Signalman who won twice, and Army Ethos who has been reinvigorated since moving to Bahrain, winning twice including the Local Grade 2 H H Sh Sheema Bint Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup.
Oliver St Lawrence purchases also made a splash in Meydan, with No Retreat, who was runner up on three seperate occasions, producing an exceptional performance to win the Lincoln Navigator Handicap. Calif came third in the Group 2 Bahrain International Trophy, picked up Prize money in the Hong Kong Cup at Sha Tin, then produced an exceptional performance on Saudi Cup Night to finish Runner Up in the Group 2 Neom Cup at the Saudi Cup meeting. Qaader also finished third in the Saudi International Handicap on the same night.
Arthur Dobell also had a very active winter, purchasing the winners of 3 local Group 1’s in Pakistan, as well as winners in India. Mad Max won impressively in Japan, his dam Saraaba having being purchased by Arthur at the 2021 Goffs Mares Sale. Arthur also brokered the Stallion deal of 2017 European Champion 2yo Unfortunately, who has moved to continue his stallion career at EM Farms in Pakistan.
Overall, a very strong season and we hope it leads into an equally successful European Season with some very exciting prospects still to come.
