Simsir wins Bahrain International Trophy

Trainer Fawzi Nass and owner’s Victorious Racing were celebrating the win of SIMSIR in the second running of the £500,000 Bahrain International Trophy over 10 furlongs.

Simsir was purchased privately by Oliver off The Aga Khan and trainer Mick Halford in September 2021 and was having his first start for connections. Ridden enterprisingly by jockey Lee Newman, he took up the lead 3 furlongs from home and just prevailed on the line from a field that included six Gr.1 winners led by Irish Derby winner Sovereign. Stable mate Port Lions, who won on Saudi Cup day back in February, was having his first run in 9 months and finished a close fourth. He had also been bought privately by Oliver before coming to Bahrain in 2019.
